The light is different in the fall, it no longer explodes through stained glass and tumbles down stairs to rest in bright puddles on hardwood floors.
It's birth is now more difficult as the sun begins to hang anemically in the hammock of the sky; its brightness subdued by lethargy, fog and darkness.
Night is becoming bolder, more self-assured, holding onto its realm more tenaciously with the knowledge that reinforcements are on their way from the north.
However, the battle is not yet won as the sun finds her lambent tongue and speaks to the trees burnishing their flaming leaves against the cerulean sky.
The light is different in the fall, It beckons the beauty of the season to emblazon the earth with colors of fire before the kingdom of white rules once more.
Love this!
I could almost see the battle.
reminds me of "A Game of Thrones" a little bit. Only your poem is much lovelier!
My favorite time of year.

Don't forget, I spent the first 22 years of my life in upstate NY...the land where winter rules...
yes it is .. those few more days of flame are precious indeed ... we have to capture them when we can .. put all else aside for later .. well worth it .. your final line makes me smell and feel the very peaceful quiet of the dead of winter ... dreading those days she is pissed .. :)

Good dedication to the fall Blue. Down in my Floridian neck of the woods you can walk outside right now and it isn't 98000 degrees. It's a welcome relief for sure

I do not accept any new friend requests unless we have read and commented on each others poetry. No exceptions. I have enough homework as it is. I expect reciprocity in our exchanges. Read my work and.. more..
