The light is different in the fall, it no longer explodes through stained glass and tumbles down stairs to rest in bright puddles on hardwood floors.
It's birth is now more difficult as the sun begins to hang anemically in the hammock of the sky; its brightness subdued by lethargy, fog and darkness.
Night is becoming bolder, more self-assured, holding onto its realm more tenaciously with the knowledge that reinforcements are on their way from the north.
However, the battle is not yet won as the sun finds her lambent tongue and speaks to the trees burnishing their flaming leaves against the cerulean sky.
The light is different in the fall, It beckons the beauty of the season to emblazon the earth with colors of fire before the kingdom of white rules once more.
Such great imagery. I love the feeling of the changing seasons brought to life by your great metaphorical references and impeccably chosen language. The first stanza was, for me, the strongest (not that the whole thing wasn't strong), but it really set the stage for the piece, and gave me a taste of the seasons to come. Well done!

This is a bit of poetic perfection, Blue. Your imagery, flow, word choice and metaphor, amazing. I cannot choose a favorite line - it's all favorite (and that's where it is going!) Bravo!

Thank you Rita. I truly appreciate your kind words and I am happy that you enjoyed the poem.
Not being a fan of winter, I can completely understand your poem, Anne. The fall sun lights up the brilliant autumn colors and seems to be almost a consolation prize for those of us who know that all we face for many months ahead is the whiteness and bitter cold of winter. The personification you use in your poem is delightful - I loved seeing bold Night waiting for reinforcements and the sun speaking to the flaming leaves. Wonderful poetry!

A splendiferous poem of nature. The personification of the light, the sun, the night....all brilliant. The images are uniquely wonderful. Kudos to you! Lydi**
I really enthused in this battle of supremacy between Summer and Winter and Autumn the referee, stuck in the middle !

Beautiful imagery! I love your descriptions in this poem, and found myself nodding in agreement as I read. The sun is still there, but it does seem somewhat lethargic... anemic... Very nice, and well written, I love it. :)
I do not accept any new friend requests unless we have read and commented on each others poetry. No exceptions. I have enough homework as it is. I expect reciprocity in our exchanges. Read my work and.. more..
