Cast Me No Pity

Cast Me No Pity

A Poem by icelandicblue

Tires sing on wet pavement
and the sun hides out for today,
my mood  heavy and cloying
it's a dark dreary Sunday.

This time rain provides no comfort
no soothing or salve for the soul,
instead it's a pileup of heartache
that feeds a hungry black hole.

The other shoe is just hanging
waiting for its turn to drop,
here at the edge of such chaos
it will fall but never quite stop.

The glass seems mostly half empty
Or was there a glass at all?
It feels like it's been forever
I've stood with my back to the wall.

But please cast me no pity
I know it could be much worse,
so instead of me just weeping
I've decided to cry it in verse.

good for you Ice ... we are taken to the edge over and over it seems ... then quite mysteriously it happens... we are calm... confident in comfort of the Highest Power ... and no matter the tempest .. we have become the fortress it breaks on...instead of alone; back against the wall; being pounded... great poem.. so grateful for where it leads me this morning...

Rainy Sundays make for deep blue poetry...

The glass seems mostly half empty
Or was there a glass at all?

Love this... And the ray of sunshine at the end made me smile. Great poem, Blue.

And you did such a great job of it. A pile up of heartache that feeds a hungry black hole. Love that line.

Thanks a bunch Tammy.
and you cried it quite well...yesterday and the day before were really dreary days here...i can relate to this...

and yet the more i b***h, the more i remember how others have it so much worse...

but a good idea for poets...write it out..always feels better.

Ah, Johnny Cash: That Sunday morning sidewalk. Your poem inspired me to write these two gift quatrains for you to keep as your own to do with as you please since I used your singing tire concept: All we need is some Johnny Cash music here and away we go: >>>

Rain on the Brain

Singing tires and drumming rain
on this lonely Sabbath Day
tend to drive my mind insane
as it's cast in shades of gray.

Raindrops beating on my brain
have me begging for that ray
that may quell this aching pain
born of dreams now gone astray.

It's that kind of a day here, too. I just want to crawl back under the blankets and spend the day weeping...and I don't even know why....

Weather has a powerful influence on mood, doesn't it. Thanks Angel.
What a great idea, it's so much better than banging your head against the wall Anne, I felt this one, it's that kind of day here too, thanks, now I don't feel so alone!
