This piece has a very Walt Whitman sort of vibe to it, which I really like. The lines "I am witness to beauty perfected by/he elements and cradled by the/earth" especially gave me that feel. I also really like the calm tone that you have here, and the images you have. Oh, and the detail about the lilacs is a nice touch. I love lilac and its great went scent finds its way into poetry.

Thank you so very much Clockwork for your lovely review.
You make an offering in the poetry...
The last three lines sealed this poem well, "for it is not mine to keep".
Peace. Shall all find some measure of it.
This has a very subtle subliminal message, I suspect. As a disciple of Mother Earth, above my national allegiance, I very much relate to this piece, Blue. Thank you. P.

A good tribute to our holiday and also appreciation for our surrounding breadth that is only on loan to us in these moments we spend amidst their beauty. Happy 4th blue!
This reminds me of Middle America...I used to visit relatives in the MidWest and they would paint their barns in this way--a beautiful tribute.
For it is not mine to keep-- indeed...we are observers, appreciators, but we cannot take what does not belong to us. I love this last part of the piece.
yes, we get to enjoy it...but don't move or change anything...leave it as we found it.
breathtaking, reminds me of Vermont...and that beauty which i left so many years ago...then revisited 40 years later and it was all still the same...untouched...like some time warp.
that beauty will hold long after i am no longer on this earth.

It is one of the most beautiful states in the country and I always feel a blanket of comfort when I am there.
I do not accept any new friend requests unless we have read and commented on each others poetry. No exceptions. I have enough homework as it is. I expect reciprocity in our exchanges. Read my work and.. more..
