My Beautiful White Lion

My Beautiful White Lion

A Poem by icelandicblue

Rage consumes you
my beautiful white lion,
lying exposed on the scorched
savannah, seeking a mirage of relief
in the potions of witch doctors
has poisoned your soul.

Alone, padding heavily around your fallen
kingdom your keening roar paints
the horizon in shades of black.
I fear the sunset is upon us.

Rage has the ability to turn white to black - the light of day to the dark of night, the warm of goodness to the cold of evil. In the jungle the sun is hot, and as hope flees it loses its ability to heal, the keep the skies bright. Sunset looms as that which has been purported to bring relief fails - the mirage is "found out" to be false and reality begins to settle in.
After the sunset, then darkness consumes life! Excellent write with vivid imagery!!!

Just your own advice teacher...in another place; another somewhere..returned to you with interest.
Gorgeous. I love the line "your keening roar paints the horizon in shades of black." When you mentioned witch doctors I wondered whether the white lion was a metaphor for a person.

It is most definitely about a person. I am pleased that you found beauty in the poem.

Thanks. :)
Honestly? This made me think of the addiction of alcohol, or perhaps some other "potion"...more often than not, the "kingdom" does fall victim to the rage of the lion. Probably nowhere even close to where you were going with this ;-) but that's what I saw. Great work, blue.

You did- thanks for the advice.
A great discription of anger... It searves a place, but it is a rare and lonely landscape.
You wrote a fine lesson in this poem.
