More Lovely than Venus

More Lovely than Venus

A Poem by icaros13

Almond eyes of burnished bronze
beckon and beguile
as the river caresses willowed limbs.
Nature itself bows to glory
greater than The Birth of Venus.

I am helpless and enchanted,
bedeviled and bewitched
by the allure of possibility
as lovesome promises flow
from perfect heart-shaped lips.

No artist's brush nor poet's pen
can capture beauty so defined.
Her depth of mind, her graceful soul
draw me to her flame
and hold the heavens captive.

The painting and your words were powerful and beautiful. The description allow the painting to gain life and purpose. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Wow, I love this this! I see I wasn't the only one effected by the Renaissance
passage of Venus over the sun, what an amazing event just like this write, it's breathtaking :)

I can't believe this gem hasn't received more reviews... it's gorgeous! I think the last stanza is my favorite. Such an enchanting and romantic write, you have such a deeply compassionate soul.

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
