Space Between

Space Between

A Poem by icaros13

What lies in the space between
A friendly hand and fevered touch
Though close in proximity
Fear makes it miles
Taught by life to be content
With less than my desire, I
Sit in silence and wonder...

What lies in the space between
Conversation and speaking
Without words, knowing you completely
Relishing the full beauty
That is you, sharing
What makes me who I am
Even if it lasts but a moment

What lies in the space between
A broken heart and mended soul
Helping shoulder the burden
The past has compelled you to carry
Putting away my own pain
Seeing your smile
Knowing it's for me

What lies in the space between
Existing and truly living
Solid ground and leaping
Where things are, and
Where they could be
The blackness of solitude, and
The rutilant threshold...

I love the last line. "The rutilant threshold." Very nice. This whole write was very personal and eloquently expressed, I love it, and I envy your ability to keep structure and form when you express the most dire of circumstances in a wanton light. Beautiful. :)

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
