Reasons? Or Excuses

Reasons? Or Excuses

A Poem by icaros13

I strive daily
To walk the White Road
Given by my ancestors
Do harm to none
Help those in need
Hold others above myself

I smile, though in pain
Deprive myself again
Reasons? Or excuses

It's against my nature
To take another man's treasure
There is no larceny in me
Conscience would kill,
Sour the prize
And fantasy trumps reality

I smile, though in pain
Deprive myself again
Reasons? Or excuses

Denial of self
Is the burden of the strong
Melancholy, a way of life
All will be well
I've already survived Hell
This will be no different

I smile, though in pain
Deprive myself again
Reasons? Or excuses

. stunning work ... absolutely stunning work ... i love profundity that echoes and resounds ... beyond this pain is a place where you'll experience what milan kundera brilliantly terms "the unbearable lightness of being" ... IMHO ... i'd love to read what you write then too ... :) ...

I think I understand this a lot more clearly now than I did before.

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
