An Old Man's Thoughts in Springtime

An Old Man's Thoughts in Springtime

Spring is coming

They say a young man's
Heart turns to love
This time of year

But I'm an old man

My heart no longer
Falls for such
Idealistic nonsense

My heart dreams of

The coming rains
The swollen creek
The washing of Earth

The awakening of nature
Renewal of life
Birds' jubilant song

Hey old man, I love you. It seems years ago when we wrote poems, but it is not so long ago. Jubilant songster, you are.

I'd say that was love as well...but I am an old woman. I have been here for centuries. :) Love your poem.

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
