I feel you have done something of your own here and I really enjoyed it. If we read each others poetry on this site we are bound to be inspired and influenced by it just as we are influenced by everything else in our lives. ' She tried to be a blues singer once but it wasn't the right color' excellent!
I love it! Don't be surprised if I quote you. 'She tried to be a blues singer once but it wasn't the right color' I love that line, along with wild roses don't come in blue.

For we have thought the larger thoughts
And gone the shorter way.
And we have danced to devil's tunes,
Shivering home to pray;
To serve one master in the night,
Another in the day.
..I do love.. more..
