Simple Pleasures

Simple Pleasures

A Poem by icaros13

Smoking up the Sunday Sun
With a pipefull of lovely tobacco

Eavesdropping on conversations of Crows,
As they warn of Hawks and talk of Winter

A good single malt and cigar
Both older than my children

Watching my children working together
Even if for mischief

The dismay of my youngest when
The thought of rabbit stew derived
From the offspring of Peter and Midnight
Was no longer so sad
(it is also a distinct possibility)

Discussing civil rights and boys and breakfast,
Language and culture and spirituality
With my eldest, my confidant and friend

My life is rich, I possess much beauty
I am grateful for what I have
There are no lines between
My friends and my family
They are the same in every action

Life is good

. dear precious poetic father heart ... your little boy heart beats in your loving words for your little ones ... this is an overwhelming ode to parenting ... written with a magical earnestness ... and gratitude ... but i notice the prankster too ... "both older than your children", eh ? ... you are a bright light ... there have been and there will be many who will want at least a bit of it ... you see, people love people who glow :) ...

Contentment is the greatest wealth, as the Buddha said.

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
