Blue Label Temptation

Blue Label Temptation

A Poem by icaros13

There's an old bottle of scotch
I have hidden away
For years it's been silent
But it called me today

Not sure why I kept it
Maybe just to remind me
Of dark clouded days
I stumbled through blindly

I know that I shouldn't
Lend Johnnie my ear
And if it wasn't Blue Label
There'd be nothing to fear

Like pure unsweetened honey
I remember the taste
The smokey peat nose
Puts a smile on my face

I hear the rocks tinkle
Though I'm not holding a glass
Feel it slide down my throat
Slight burn at the last

I want it so bad
My desire is inflamed
I long to be numb
To forget my name

Would just one drink hook me
Like they say that it does?
I'm not still that weak
I'm stronger now than I was...

Now I'm holding the bottle
And it's so hard to think
When Johnnie looks in my eyes
And dares me to drink

. oh, monsieur ... this stunning poetry triggers a million memories ... i wouldn't recommend any kind of substance abuse to anybody ... but i remember temptation ... and i remember how oscar wilde once said he could resist anything except temptation ... it's so tough to resist temptation but we've got to do it ... because of that future that awaits us ... that surprising and promising future that we simple can't believe in because our eyes are closed and mourning about something we don't exactly know as well as we think we do ... i really would like to meet that PhD in love, you know :) ... let's get high on words instead ... :P ... what say ? ... :) ...

I can't say anything about the topic of the poem, but as for the poem itself, I love it! Its flows so smoothly, I don't even feel like I'm reading at all!

Oh he's a beautiful Walker, an Hiker, a life enjoyer, even on the rocks....
Now he can taste the true you, inside the bliss of the blue....

Wonderful! my compliments! Keep on being so creative!

About
For we have thought the larger thoughts And gone the shorter way. And we have danced to devil's tunes, Shivering home to pray; To serve one master in the night, Another in the day. ..I do love.. more..
