CAPTURE THE MOMENT 1A Story by Ibidun

Isi and I had had a long day. It was Friday and I returned home all by myself. No stakeholder was ready to leave at five. My love was on his computer, he had "deliverables" and it seemed to be taking the most of his time. I was not used to being by myself but as always I had the divine ability to enjoy my own company. "I am home" I typed on my phone the moment I arrived. I went to the kitchen to fix me something, it was Semo and a vegetable soup. I needed to get through with that before moving on with the inevitable agenda. My baby had not read my message. I had had ample time to eat and talk with my brother about business and strategy but my messages on WhatsApp where not blue yet so a put a call through to my baby. Ring ring and then he picked. He didn't have much to say. It is unlike Isiragbe to be out of things to talk about. I asked him about work and he said he was taking a break to resume before midnight. "And dinner?" I asked. He was hungry and wanted to eat fish from some bar on Odeku close. "I am happy to make that work" I said. It seems unreal; Ibidun is going to make fish from the bar possible at night but I was serious. I could give him anything at that point. I did not know that I had reached the end of my pocket and I did not know that daddy would need some hospital attention the next day so I changed into something descent and made the attempt to step out. "Where are you going?" My sister asked, "Out" I said. It had been about 30mins after our long call. Isi and I were parked by Uncle Festus's House on Odeku. The security man came out and asked us to park properly but Isi was not having it- he was not parked on the property so he did not see why he should be asked to repark. My baby did me a solid that night, he stepped out to have a decent conversation with the security guard. He told him that he and his wife (Si! he called me his wife) were going to get something from the bar and we were going to be right back but the man with a security portfolio maintained that he was working based on orders from his boss. Isi said that the property belonged to whoever owned the next building but he reparked anyway. My baby did not try to argue, he had been listening to me all along. An hour after the conversation, we were parked infront of my house. We had gotten the fish and paid via a bank transfer. My baby had wanted to pay for it but I maintained that it was my treat. Now we are in the car. I just watched him voraciously take on a whole cat fish and some yam chips. His hands were clean and the remains of dinner was lying in one of the bins on my street. We listened to the first podcast titled 'Marriage is good ' and he paused to tell me what it meant to him. He said he had thought at first that Marriage was a sham and that it was not worth it but he resolved to make it last. He looked into my eyes to tell me about the good in marriage and how we had to make efforts to ENJOY and not ENDURE the process. He asked me to look at him, I did. We stared in silence for a while.
