Dear Antoine

Dear Antoine

A Poem by Ibidun

Dear Antoine,

I write to you this final note

for old time's sake

for my eyes have seen and unseen

mysteries, tales ane reveries

My dear bitter Ex-lover

I beg that you give love a second chance
before the hard times sail in

before the c**k's crow

when your eyes no longer see
beauty

in fields where grasses grow

and your lips no longer savour

daninty kisses- your one time endeavour

when men of your pair hold in their arms

the lovely babe-

children of their own grand children

and women hold on to their breasts

from which they fed a suckled generation

my dear Antoine, I beg that you

savour the taste of love that is true

like honey deeped strawberry dew

and the gliding beauty of pollen grains in summer dunes

this one time I ask of you

do give love's whisper a listening ear

for my days like years have come and gone

and now my spell is cast on none

for my vain deceit has served its time
and my many lovers no longer mine.
