If rainbows were foreverA Poem by Ibidun
IF RAINBOWS WERE FOR EVER The dark night chased the sun away Clashing shadows emerged as I watched its last ray A stormy wind waited patiently Behind the dark clouds arrows of lightening strode gallantly. If rainbows were forever then where do they lie? At night when the cowards slumber In the rims of the sky
The first rain drop I felt made me shiver in the cold The old men had their paddy hats on resting strong and bold Old nannies held umbrellas, with children in their hands The forecast said it showered in summer hinterlands As luck will have me hither a young cabbie walked on by Dear dame, do come in thither Well thanks, I chuckled and stepped inside
It rained and poured two hours long The splashes chorused as thunder sang a song Enchanting night with Christmas lights The songs, the cold and no frost bites If rainbows were forever, I’ll gladly sing a song Come thither now my lover, as the cabbie that night had sung
The air was filled with the musk of him Fresh oranges, bitter sweet as they come My lungs exhaled with his shallow theme Fresh oranges, bitter sweet as they come If rainbows were forever, I’ll kiss that cabbie’s lips For passion does birth pleasure sweeter than honey drips
The silent cold did pass away As thundering made its final sound And out of the cab I went that day Where neither passion nor pleasure was found But rainbows did break sunder The theme of shallow lust Fresh oranges now dead as cinder And Lilies, fallen to the dust. © 2015 IbidunAuthor's Note
