Here's My Hate

This is a poem that I wrote for my father that walked out of my life when I was a kid. Growing up without a father is tough, even if some people don't think it is. But anyways this is aimed at him.

I remember growing up and seeing her cry.

She would tell me she was okay, but I knew it was a lie.

 

He abandoned us when I was born.

He broke my mom’s heart, ripped and torn.

 

He wasn’t there to watch my first steps.

I remember the hate for him, that’s the only memory I kept.

 

How could you leave your wife and son?

Now I reminisce what could’ve been, but there’s no chance, it’s done.

 

I have the deepest hate in my heart for you.

Mom forgave you, but that doesn’t mean I have to.

 

I’m writing you this letter to show you how angry I am.

I have no compassion for you, I don’t give a damn.

 

You left me, I grew up without a father in my life.

I hope your life is good, I hope it’s full of strife.

 

I thought you would like to know, were doing fine.

We never needed you, so here’s my hate and this is where I end and sign.

That was deep. I can feel your hatred and I completely understand it, because I've been through something like this and I felt this way. It's heart-wrenching until the point where you can't care anymore. When you're done caring.
It's powerful.
