Fly

This is how I live my life now.

 

Watching, breathless, as the night birds fly

In the light of the moon, in a star studded sky.

Those birds have no limits, they truly are free

As free as we all are meant to be!

So why do we chain ourselves, and make our lives small?

We clip our own wings and make ourselves crawl.

We are so afraid to truly live our lives

That we settle for less – we choose just to survive.

We stay close to the ground, in case we might fall.

Fear keeps us down – we go nowhere at all.

But it doesn’t have to be that way, we can lift ourselves high

With a little Faith and Trust we, too, can touch the sky.

So don’t let Fear or Self-doubt keep you down

Your life can be wonderful, just get off the ground!

Let your wings grow and don’t be afraid

To live your life fully, to fly and be brave.

You don’t have to settle for a life that is small

You really can catch yourself if you happen to fall.

Give up thoughts of littleness, pain, and fear

Let your wings grow – your life becomes clear!

This is a great poem with wonderful thoughts to live by. So many of us do exactly as you suggest here - let fear rule our lives - we haven't yet learned that by letting it all go - we become free to be what, and who we wish to be. But, boy oh boy, when we do let it all go, the feeling of freedom is fantasic.
