Pretty Smile

She had a pretty face,

She had a pretty smile,

But I wonder what happens to her

When she re-reads her journal,

Her pretty face becomes pale,

Her pretty smile gets replaced by tears,

Her mind gets lost,

When her old days are found

For me this is a story about self realisation. The person in the poem appears to be 'shallow' in the sense that she had a pretty face and a pretty smile, and as she reflects and thinks back on her life, she realise that that was all there really was to her and that actually hit me harder than I expected. Then again, it could just be that she's sad because she got old and I just read too much into it :P
It has many ways of being interpreted, good work! :D
