This Song

This Song

A Poem by sandra

She had always thought that

the song was for her

but,

was it?

It could have been just a song that he loved.

It could have been a song for another.

It could have been his fight song.

Maybe it’s his flight song.

She thought

he raised the volume.

To catch her eye.

To tell her why.

He was staying.

But,

was he?

it could have had nothing to do with her.

Not everything was about her.

“Not everything is about you”,

she had always been told.

Mostly, that seemed true.

People tell you when a song is for you.

They let you know

with

a touch

or a feeling,

or a look.

They want you to know it.

They want you to taste it.

“THIS IS WHAT YOU MEAN TO ME”

It is a scream.

But,

only if it’s about you.

Chaotically beautiful.
We ruin good songs by overthinking them..
