To the lives I hope to save.

"

This poem is a message to my future patients. As an incoming first year medical student, I wanted to make a vow to keep my promises to the underserved. However, the poem is widely applicable.

"
You think we’ve all forgotten,
About the things we said we’d do,
The promises we made,
Quiet injustices to you.

But I want you to know today,
That I hope in days to come
To be there by your side�"
To be your ray of sun.

You will lean on me then,
And I will lean on you now.
As I wait for the day to come,
When I fulfill this subtle vow.
