Watching the Sunset

Watching the Sunset

A Chapter by Liz Alexander

Watching the Sunset

His point of view

Spring break

Is finally here

For me at least

She still has classes

Since I don’t want

I not see her

In this week

I am going to stay

With a friend

That we share

I missed seeing her

I hope this week

We solve the problems

That has settled

Between us

The tension

Makes me sad

We skype

I hate it

For the color

Of her blue eyes

Are faded

On the screen

I miss seeing

Those eyes

Right after

I have dried her tears

They turn ice blue

Over the week

We spend together

I walk her

To her classes

Stopping at the door

Take her out

To a place

I have saved up for

Or we will have a pinnic

As we lay in each other arms

I hold her

As we chat

About random things

I wanted to say

Those three little words

Other days

Are soft and sweet

As she has to hang out

With her friends

I play with some of my friends

A friendly sport

I am so intent on the game

In my element

I don’t hear a voice

Say can we play?

Next thing I know

The field is full

With six or seven girls

When the team comes

Back together

I see a pair of blue eyes

Standing on the other side

I look to the team captain

That she is giving a high-five to

I set a glare

On my face

As soon as we get

The game

Started again

I got where

I wanted fast

Yet the person

I wanted

Was already

On the other side

Scoring?

How?

When did she get there?

I see her now

Jumping up and down

Next time I think

I started up

Watching her

From the corner of my eye

As I go towards

The team captain

I see a person sliding

Before me

I jump

So I don’t trip

Over them

I look down

To see my stormy blue eyes girl

Finally when

The game is over

As the sunsets

I jog over to her

Tired? She asks

I pull her into me

Whispering in her ear

I love you

She pulls back

Looking in to my eyes

What did you say?

I said I love you

It is true

She starts to jump up and down

Knocking me down

I grab her taking her

Down with me

Trying to kiss her

She pulls back and whispers on my lips

I love you too

I grab her

And kiss her

So happy forever

With this perfect girl

In my arms

Watching the sunset
