Hand in his - Her point of view

Hand in his - Her point of view

A Chapter by Liz Alexander

Her point of view

Time of break

Between 1st and 2nd semester

Is over

We shared a little time

I know that

I have a different relationship

With him

Than other dude

I can date

How many times

We have kissed

On my two hands

Six times

Not including the kiss

At the secret wedding

I like that

We take it slow

Even if we are truly married

In our minds

We are still getting

To know each other

My mind strays to

When I was packing

To go back

He came in

And said I’ll take you

Surprising me

I was going

To catch a ride

Not wanting

To start a fight

I text my ride

To cancel

When I zip up

My bag

Before I pick it up

I look up

To see him

Our eyes

Connect it feels

Like he can see

Through my blue eyes

Then he leaves the room

And then he is gone

The stairs

He yells back

You coming?

Yeah one minute

I yell back

I look around

To the things

In the room

My true home

Is here

Even without him

I finally start my descent

A little while later

He holds my hand

A confront

Sleeping through his hand

To mine

Saying even if we

Are far apart

We never

Leave each other side

Together as one

In our minds

Strong together

I fall asleep

With the music

In the back ground

Dreaming nothings

Expect…

My hand in his

I like this poem. The slow and easy pace is common sense. People who appreciate the simple gifts will know real pleasure throughout their life. People who want everything now. Forget the steps of love and kindness. A very good ending to a very good poem. Thank you.
