Sneaking a glance... What if...

Sneaking a glance... What if...

A Poem by Liz Alexander

Sneaking a glance

At the boy

Who has changed my dreams

Wanting nothing more than to stare

HE sinks my heart

Time will chance and soon

My glances will be

Looking at nothing than a picture

Yet agian

My heart will wonder what if...

What if...

I wasn't sneaking a glance

Across the room

But to the spot next to me

Just hanging out

What if...

I was wearing his jacket

Smelling the scent

That his living smell

Making a memory

Some day I will wake up

Move on...

Sing myself a country song

Make my eyes break

The habit of...

Sneaking a glance

At the boy

Who has changed my dreams

Wanting nothing more than to stare

All day long....

Yes those "What ifs" leave us wishing to be braver and took a chance. All of us yearn to know someone. We create a fear and blockage till one day like you wrote in the poem. Only a picture and lost wishes are left. A excellent poem. You told a very good story.
