At Peace

At Peace

A Poem by Liz Alexander

Man covered with paint

After all the work

He put in to this one painting

Of his mother

She died

When he was ten years old

It took him years to finally complete

This one picture

Every stroke of the paint

He remembered

The look on her face

Every time he saw her

Days will go by

And his mother face

Will forever more haunt?

His mind

Her love lingers

With each step

That he takes

After years of hurt and pain

He finally overcome it

Now here he is

Covered in paint

Looking at the

Painting he had created

And finally he was

At peace

A sad and beautiful poem. You create a vision of a man trying to find peace in the creation of a painting of his mother. A beautiful story. Thank you.
