DisappointmentA Poem by Liz AlexanderA conversation between friends, a confession of past friends.Disappointment There I go again Ran my mouth Took a chance Stated a fact I
had liked you
A serious moment Flashed between us While everything was
busy Around us You had stood up
Pang of pain Rang in me Memories Flood the surface Deja vu of rejection
Questions of why Why
the crush vanished Peak of wonder curiosity Texting back my reason Brushing thoughts away
Whole
truth? Why would I lie? From time to time Emotion flutters signaling Infatuation stirring again
Confirmation of a fact I knew already Decision made by you Leaving, I did too Frustration shocked me
Time after time Hangouts seem broken Holes between bricks
crumble Seconds before… Walls jump right back up
Because I went there again Opened up Déjà vu stabs silence Plans; looked towards Broken in a matter of
seconds
Apology left airborne Its
fine May come mouthed Does not stop Disappointment
I will go again Run my mouth Facing disappointment Faint acceptations Stirs Infatuation
