Contest

A Poem by Liz Alexander

Your eyes can grip me forever
The silence irks me
Mess up the contest
You always win

Then the moment gone
As I hear my voice
Waking us both up
From searching in the eyes

I could stare forever
My mouth opens before
I can win
This repetitious game

Maybe someday
I will get lost in your eyes
Longer than your lost in mine
Missing the heart break

In this stormy blue gaze
