Voice

Voice

A Poem by Liz Alexander

I could fall asleep listening to your voice
In the distance wind I hear my name
Every time I look around
No one calling me
It's a haunting feeling
Hear my name on the wind
Not knowing who said it
Misguided friendships have left me
Fearful of the voice
Wondering if its them
Haunting me as I stand on my two feet
Yet the voice is not as haunting as that
Haunting in a way
As its coming from a voice
That encourages me
From some one who is still
A blessing my life
Part of me imagine
Them whispering my name

The experience with the others
Have taught me to be weary
Of the attention of one
For lies have been told l
Parties being burned with each word
I am healing from the burns
That unknowingly torn me inside out
With each nice word
Those voices use to make me feel safe

A voice woke me up
Softly calling me
To wake up
This is not my plan it say
The prayers I asked answered
The voice I hear is haunting
My name on the wind
Only two options appear in my mind

The voice that warned me and one with the smile

Finished: 9-22-13
