Goofy Friend

Goofy Friend

A Poem by Liz Alexander

I remember a time when I liked you
The conversation when I told you is clear in my mind
Back when we talked everyday
The days where you would make me fix my grammar over texting
Frustration would fill my mind every time the words “Fix it” appeared on the screen
I saved the conversations for a rainy day
Reading it over again makes me laugh
Back then we were goofy
In the time where you knew a lot
Our conversations were always only in texting
I rarely would talk to you in person
You always told me too
But I never have been good at it
Something you know all too well.

Now a days I don’t like you any more
We slowly started to text and less and less
And started to talk in person more and more
Even if we pass each other we will poke each other
A wordless hello between our understanding
I still trust your opinion on who I like
A friend explained to someone
That you are a brother
Our lives are getting busier and busier
As the months and the days grow longer
Yet I know that you will still be there
As my goofy friend

I like the story in this poem. Hard to have separation from the people we care for. Life create bridges we must cross and still be friends. I like the complete poem. A very good ending to a excellent poem.
