CHAPTER 6 (Edited)

CHAPTER 6 (Edited)

A Chapter by iamcarolfierce

Today is my first day off from work and I was too lazy to get up. Supposedly, my plans are to wake up early, roam around and make myself familiarize with the place but instead, I spent half of my day in bed. The only reason why I left the bed was because of a phone call. My mom was on the line and told me to chat with her. I logged in my messenger and was happy to see my family via webcam. Technology really is a great help to everyone especially for those who are far away from their family.

However, it was replaced with sadness because of the news about my eldest sister, Susaine. She was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The hospital bills were high and she needed frequent checkups and maintenance of medicines. I needed to remit money as fast as I could.

Our conversation lasted only for an hour and I was gulping my first can of beer when...

 “Dingdong!”

My doorbell rang and I rapidly opened the door. A motorbike was standing in front of my house and a delivery man carried a pizza.

“Good morning Madam. Did anybody ordered for a pizza?” the man said in a masculine tone.

“I’m sorry but you must be in the wrong place. I didn’t order for a pizza”, I replied and shut the door closed.

The doorbell rang for the second time.

“Good afternoon again, Madam. Are you sure this pizza doesn’t belong to you?”

“Of course I am. Maybe somebody had prank called you and addressed that pizza to my place.”

“I don’t think so Madam.  The order said it’s from Miss Sophie Velasco. Do you know who she is?”

“I am Sophie but that order isn’t mine!” I answered in a high tone. I was so bothered with the news about my sister plus this delivery boy is pissing me. He just won’t quit and I’m losing my patience.

“Hey madam, chill! You’re way to pretty to get angry easily. You’ll have this pizza for free.”

“Huh? What on Earth are you…” just before I finished what I’m saying, the delivery boy took off his helmet, “saying. Oh my! It’s you stupid” I was so glad to see him and I just can’t deny it.

“Stupid, ey? Oh yes it’s me. Can I come in?” Justin said, showing a wide smile. I could see that he was very glad as well.

I was still surprised. I didn’t expect that the guy would be him nor expect that he’ll be seeing me again. I opened the door and let him enter.

“So, did you miss me?” he asked jokingly.

   “Oh common, why would I?”

He laughed and went straight to my refrigerator. “Hey, I’m just kidding. Why would you miss me anyway?” he opened my fridge and was surprised with what he saw. Inside it were cans of beer and a bottle of wine. “I never thought that an angel like you was a drinker?

“Oh, not really. I just had those because I miss drinking. Plus the weather’s too cold so I kept a bottle to warm me up”

“If that’s you say.” Justin responded grabbing a can of beer. “It’s a good thing you’re not working today. I was just guessing if you’re home. I lost my phone during the rehearsal and I can’t find a time to visit you. My only free time lasted for only 5 hours, just enough for me to have my rest.”

“So that’s why you have disappeared for a short time. I thought you forgot about me already” I replied, giggling and turning my attention away from him.

I went to the sofa and turned on the television. He followed and sat beside me. I scanned the channel and looked for a good movie.

“Wow! This is my favorite. It reminded me of my childhood days!” I said cheerfully. It was the famous “Toy Story”, the movie that I used to watch over and over before.

“Great! This is my favorite as well. So, you’re a kid at heart too?”

“Yes, I am!” I replied loudly.

We spent our day together laughing and sharing stories.

“I miss this. I mean, spending your day with a friend, watching movies, eating and stuffs. Just having a normal life”

“Well, that’s the way it is. You’re a superstar and you have to risk some of the best things in life like this. After all, you’re getting almost everything that you want.”

“Yes, you’re right but not really everything.  It still feels good if you’re living a simple life. I think it’s happier if you spent most of your time with family and friends.

“Of course, it is” I said in a low tone and sighed. “I miss my family.”I said, drinking my second can of beer.

“I am sure they’re missing you more” Justin replied, moving closer to me.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing? Go back to where you were!”

Justin was laughing really loud. “I never thought you’re that easy to piss. You’re really different. I mean, other girls would like, go crazy and stuff. But you, you’re so cranky and totally unlike them! That’s why I love hanging around with you. I feel so comfortable. I feel so normal”

“Good thing you know I’m not like them. Why on Earth will I go crazy for a stupid guy like you anyway?” I was laughing really hard as well when Justin moved closer, trapping me in his arms. His lips closed to mine.

“Say that again and I’ll do something you would never expect me to do” Justin said, grinning.

“Do something stupid and you’ll be a dead meat Justin!” I yelled. He was so close that I could feel the warmth of his breath and I don’t want this to go anywhere else so I pushed him. He fell to the floor and we both giggled. “I just can’t get out of my mind about what had happened when we first met. The clothes and the heels plus the makeup really look good on you. It was the best and stupidest idea I ever heard.” I added.

“I know, I know. That was really hard to forget” Justin answered.

It’s almost evening and we never thought time would fly this fast. We had our dinner together and tidied up my place before he decided to go home.

The moon lighted up the night’s sky and the stars shone brightly. Justin bids goodbye and I was about to close the door when Justin came back.

“Hey Miss. I lost my number, can I have yours?” Justin said, giggling.

“Wow that was cheesy. So, no, you can’t have mine. Goodbye”

“Oh common Sophie” Justin gave me his phone and I saved my number.

After getting my number, Justin put on his helmet looking just like an ordinary delivery man again. He started his motorbike, waved goodbye to me and then, went on.

That was a really cheesy line... but I like it! Again it's good, felt it was a little rushed but that did not take anything away from the story. Good good!!

Keep it going.. Your characters are coming along nicely. My only suggestion would be to finish your thoughts, this chapter felt like it bounced around a little bit.. Read it a loud, and I am sure you will understand what I mean..

I used to have a great passion in writing before. Composed poems and songs, had written essays and stories. However, time made me a real bum. Vices and peers came and I forgot about writing. But no.. more..
