Malevolent Shadow

Over me it lingers...it soars,

bringing sorrow in a mighty roar

causing me to feel misery,

like i never have before

this shadow of doom,

passing by...giving way

to a dark and gloomy day

This Malevolent Shadow

this pointless battle

can u hear the rattle

of the bullets and the cries of me

this sorrow deadly oh so poisioning

make it go away

Taking it all away

my state of mind

this place i call mine

how am i to find

...happiness

when all there is to follow

is the cloud of sorrow

Will it ever subside

will it ever die

when oh when will it pass

this shadowy overcast

sending me plunging down into the deep

into a pool of sorrow just below my feet

i try to cover, mask, and hide

this sorrow that is deep inside

First I'd like to congratulate you for not plunging deep into the "emo" aspect of this poem. It could have gone horribly bad fairly quickly, but it didn't. Another thing I'd like to note is the effectiveness of the repeated lines,

"This Malevolent Shadow
this pointless battle
can u hear the rattle
of the bullets and the cries of me
this sorrow deadly oh so poisioning
make it go away"

These are also my favorite lines. They pull all the emotion in and focus it. This poem, to me, expresses feelings of apathy. This person always feels clouded and weighted down, but does not posses the strength or motivation to act. Instead they sit and wait for it to pass, "poisoning" their mind into believing there is no other way. Very well done. Thanx for writing.
