Eager

A poem about missing someone, being excited to see them again, and questioning if it's "okay" to feel that way.

Am I allowed to be excited?
Just to see your smile?
Not sure I'd feel right if
it's been a while
It has been for me anyway
If you ask how long is too long
I'm liable to say maybe five days
then I'll wonder what's going on
I'm not entitled to know
of that much I'm aware
You just have such a glow
that it's hard not to stare
It's winter when you're gone
so I pity the other hemisphere
for they never see the dawn
while you're over here
Don't all creatures await the spring?
Isn't it natural to want to see the sun
shine its rays on everything?
I'm sure I'm not the only one
