forksA Poem by Jacques - iNkwireabout not knowing which choice to makeAt this fork in my road, unsure which to take Whether it's left or right, from both you're away The road you were on was the one I already passed So if I want to see you, it's like I have to turn back Yet that path was never smooth Full of bumps and gaps and a few of the potholes were pitfall traps Maybe I fell in because my eyes were too high I saw a million stars in the sky and I thought I could only win I held a relic from my travels from a happier time yet I felt a tinge of shame like having it was a crime I could tell you I love you, but what would it mean? Your eyes have been closed so it's not like you would see Now I doubt your intent and now I doubt your heart which hurts me so much because it's my favorite part Your huge bright eyes and your song-like voice while both so beautiful are not my first choice It's almost a shame to see a heart so big one I wanted to reach, but it's one you hid If I look or turn back, will I turn to stone? I ask because I almost fear losing you more than I fear the unknown Some signs and whispers I see seem to good to be true I've been told the clouds will clear, but I still don't see you I can't strike you from my mind and I can't make myself forget It's like memories of you come up When I think I'm on the mend I'm not sure I know the truth or if it's something I'll ever see I don't know why union is so elusive So close yet far out of reach
