Thank You, Dear Friend

An expression of gratitude for someone who changed my life.

I've thought a lot lately
Like you came in a box, maybe
Like the universe heard my call
and how hard it was for me to handle it all

I've already sent my love,
but can't thank you enough
You're a human; not from above
Yet you made life seem less tough

I've loved you then
and I love you still
But now I love you like
I loved that the wind blew on a hill

I'm glad it all happened
and I'm glad we met
but there's different ways through
the paths on which we've been set

I just wish I could thank you
and wish I could say hi
but I'll just have to do the same
for the new people who will come by

Part of me hopes
that this piece you could see
but I've had all the you
that was meant for me

You gave me so much,
but now we've reached the end
I feel warmth, not pain
when I say, "Thank you, Dear Friend"
