![]() Up in the AirA Poem by Jacques - iNkwire![]() A piece I wrote during a trip about the one I refuse to forget![]()
My heart still clings to your song
As though you are somewhere near It has not been especially long, But it already feels a year I only receive a half of solace To say the sun we see's the same The air I breathe is not as sweet When it has no echo of your name I'd lie if I was to say Not one has caught my eye I'd also lie if I was to claim I hope you're with a guy Life's rhythm is not one to fight; With its baton we must comply I can't prove that we'd be right, But I would like to try Now there is no ocean between us, But your voice I still can't hear To live my life without your sound Is but one of many fears I've no images to look on Nor a way to say hello I haven't found you in these clouds Nor did I see you below Hairstyles I see are my best excuse To imagine we can meet Then each time my lips just sink When I don't get that treat If one said something's gone That would only be half true I can't say I want it back As I gave that piece to you I confess I fear to declare That you and I are bound For other men it'd seem unfair As crazy as that sounds Sharing a home and name Would surely make my life My heart is yours to claim If you would be my wife My arms would be yours to wear And I'd gladly lend my ears We'd share burdens to bear and our golden years There's much I still don't know So I'm left without a clue Of what to do or where to go To find my way back to you © 2019 Jacques - iNkwire |
