Outside In

Outside In

A Poem by Erin

Opposites Attract,
This is Life.
A joining conglomeration of persons with only the present in mind.

Individual turned off,
Collective clicked on.
Laughs and Loves, feelings shared.
And I feel like I belong.
This is the way it should be.
Together as One;
Lose one's self in the moment.
Then(!)
Then with parting song,
The Rest leave as One.
The Rest leave One.
Me.
Not a thought to the lost drone is spared.
My frantic call falls on deaf ears, but for one tentative response.
Success!
Butbutbutbutbut
BUT

it isn't you.

Oh Wow! The meaning behind this is a powerful scene! One that plays out in many way in today's society. I have been there, I have felt being left standing when the others vanish on into their other world.

We hope and we dream. Something makes us want to be more then we are, more then what we once were. Something that drives us forward to try and succeed.
Yet more times then not. Even with all our effort we find ourselves kicking the tin can on the sidewalk. Looking up at those that have made it.

A wonderful poem!

I enjoyed reading this, it provoked some interesting thoughts from me. thoughts about the accomplishments of a team and an individual. It made me think of the military and about animals that live in packs, herds, and flocks. my favorite part is when you yell Success! Then you say "but it isn't you."
