This Song

This Song

A Poem by Frankie Nguyen

It’s been a few days now
and I just got to thinkin’
about what we used to be
how I can still remember every laugh
and all those silly times
how I miss you
even though I know it doesn’t matter

The strings on this guitar
can’t say what I want to say
they can’t tell you everything
there’s not a song I could sing
that could possible tell you how

how you’ve torn my world in two
it couldn’t tell you how you’ve shattered everything
or how you used to fix it all

I could write you a poem
try to tell you everything I kept inside
I could write you a song
but non of it would matter

the strings on this guitar
can’t say what I want to say
they can’t tell you everything
there’s not a song I could sing
that could possible tell you how

you used to light my world
with that crooked little smile
how I know every thing about you
or how you know me

I know it’s a lost cause
don’t get me wrong
but no matter what
a little part of me
will always wish
that one day I’ll hear that voice again
telling me “I love you”

the strings on this guitar
can’t say what I want to say
they can’t tell you everything
there’s not a song I could sing
that could possible tell you how
much I’ll always love you
