Filling the void

it goes from rhyme to free verse at the end

you filled the void

in my heart

even though I tried to avoid

even when I tried to depart

 

you came like a storm

and swept me off my feet

I watched us transform

and I never saw something so sweet

 

I saw my life in you

the life to live

all my dreams came true

I never felt so alive

 

I never thought I'd be so blessed

as to be able to call you mine

now I will profess

now that the stars have aligned

 

I'm in love with you

and the person you are

the person I am when I'm with you

and the people we are

 

I'm in love with your heart

with your mind

and with your soul

 

I'm in love with that smile

and those beautiful brown eyes

that soft laugh

and everything about you
