A Poem by Frankie Nguyen

I can look someone in the eye
and spout off 100 lies
I can fake a smile & a laugh
Pretend I'm happy
Pretend it matters
until I get what I want

I can shatter hearts
with venom in my words
make you feel used
make you feel irrelevant

I'll cut you down
when you think I've changed
make you feel you're the one to blame
and make you feel ashamed

But why do you look surprised
doesn't it feel familiar
the hurt and the heartbreak
because I learned it from you

I learned to lie, from the one who lied to me
I learned to pretend, from the one who played me
I learned to hurt, from the one who hurt me
I learned carelessness, from the one who never cared

Well said, but sad. "...and spout 'off? ' It's up to us to break the chain and turn the world around. This poem reveals how misery easily spreads, but so can love. Most excellent message for people to ponder.
