A Great HeightA Poem by i.am.the.sun.
Lights over lights
guide our way home Eagerly ignored. Jewels 'neath our toes, veiled, retired, muted, gone to sleep some time ago. Perched and precarious don't fall, it's a long way down. Legs dangle daring, don't fall, it's too soon for that. Teasing gravity with each word said, grip slipping with every smile shed. Hold on, just a little longer, it's too soon for that- a little darker now, and she'll never see me hit the bottom. A little later now, and we'll be turning 'round on crooked knees, walking back through still shadows, cobblestones 'neath sleepy heels. Don't fall, you'd look a right fool now. Talking slow, is there a limit? Eagerly, is this a race? Do I have time to tell you one last thing, do you have time to listen? Does it matter what I say, can this just last all night? Earthshine brightest, Moon is beautiful, but to the Moon the Earth is beauty. Fingers slip, footsteps fade, lips flicker under quicker fleeting stares. Don't fall, not yet. © 2017 i.am.the.sun. |
