Are Tears Visible In The Rain?

Are Tears Visible In The Rain?

A Poem by Lungile I Mtsweni
"

The writing is a powerful and emotional poem that explores universal themes and experiences.

"

Verse 1

Oh my O my, is it time?

Here she comes! “Babe, we need to talk”,

“Naah! Just a cliché”

Chorus

"In the rain, I hide my face

Tears fall, but who can see the pain?

I'm lost in fear, in regret I'm trapped

Are tears visible in the rain?"

Verse 2

Yeah, that talk makes the rounds

In a grapevine round the clock and block

Blogging my business. That my bae is leaving

Verse 3

Through my gateway

Through the falling rain, I see you coming

To me, the bane of your pain.

Verse 4

As though you roll

On the scroll of a rumour

Well writ on the air

Verse 5

To bare the float of slaughter:

Milling the victim with words:

“Babe, we need to talk”

Verse 6

The hinges of my heart let loose

Yours misused in my recklessness

Now I am a wreck hinged in regret

Chorus

"In the rain, I hide my face

Tears fall, but who can see the pain?

I'm lost in fear, in regret I'm trapped

Are tears visible in the rain?"

Verse 7

My droit diminishes

As I walk up reality,

Down from macho

Verse 8

Swallowing an air lump in my throat

As fair and blare as silence in retrospect

Recognizing that: “It is time!”

Verse 9

I gape at my pending doom

Guessing there is no turning around,

When the clock keeps turning.

Verse 10

To bear forth,

That rumour in the rounds

On lips of mongers and haters

Verse 11

Fearsome as it is;

All of it into my ears:

Now I hears you knock on my door

Verse 12

Compelling fear to be a player in my eyes

As I behold my door and the falling rain

Contemplating how I hurt you; I think to myself…

Verse 13

Time for the player to bow.

I love being with you but as you crossed my gateway this time

I shook in my skin, as the boy separated from the man

Verse 14

I love you dearly; I adore your beauty.

This time though,

The man’s tongue became doh

Verse 15

Cherish the thought of seeing you smile

This time though, I am squeamish

Skimming the peevish speech, I have earned

Verse 16

Oh my O my

Rather you see me not,

Not in this fear face, the carefree boy is gone

Verse 17

The man fumbles in a farce: I’ve got a thought

My dignity must ace intact in your face

Farce it or face it, I know… I will stand in the rain;

Verse 18

As I strain to keep my composure

My train of thought augurs not well for my trouble

To hide my shame from your moral rectitude

Yet through providence, a touch of hope I take from the rain

To pace the tears falling from eyes

To the rain falling on my face

A place conduced for solace and time

While my regret and pain displace:

Still…(Brief Pause)

Are tears visible in the rain?

Is pain in pace with rain?

Bridge

"In the rain, I will hide my face

For as long as my tears fall, as lost as my perspective is in fear;

My emotions as trapped in regret, I will ask the plain:

Are my tears visible in the rain?"

Chorus

"In the rain, I hide my face

Tears fall, but who can see my pain?

I'm lost in fear, in regret I'm trapped

Are my tears visible in the pouring rain?"

Ad-lib to fade

"Are tears visible in the rain?"
