Hill Of Pain

Hill Of Pain

A Poem by Lungile I Mtsweni
"

The poem explores the themes of pain, suffering, trust, obedience, forgiveness, and victory.

"

Sadness like this I’ve never known

Cruelty like this I’ve only heard of

But so grimly now, a victim of both

Am I a well of suffering?

Called a fool, called naïve

Except, in His eyes declared rich

Called trusting, called kind

Will I ever see them?

Eyes of exceptional discernment

Take it from this fool

He is Christ, not a fool

So make my day

Take what is mine for your selfish comfort

O how my sweat pays

For your earthly delight

Yet happy will I be

For past this point

I’ll miss not that divine opportunity

To be in the home stretch

His eyes of fire beckoning me thither

Not lost anymore, intentionally placed

(selah) FORGIVENESS: (selah):

The apex of my challenge

In my favour, time stands still

In the saltiness of my tears,

Trusting and obeying Him,

I kiss the opportunity given:

I forgive all.

Thus, assuredly and manifestly:

(selah): PEACE (selah)

Victory now mine in Him

His strength became mine

In weakness and discomfort

His grace sufficing my triumph,

To perfecting my spirit

At a point of my despair

That I may reap the reward

In laughter and joy,

Of life in abundance

Beyond and above

My hill of pain
