The Great MissingA Poem by i'mHiding
The night is quiet, the lights have all flickered low,
Hear the furnace kick in from the basement, In the darkness of my home. I am lying still, petrified & lost in dull truth, Dreaming with my eyes open, Constantly thinking of you. Drenched in a cold sweat, Your last words on repeat, I want to taste your kiss once more, feel you loom over me, Angelic, sweet. The cars rift along the highway, Their headlights shift through the blinds, The light tightens my sight, and i close my eyes momentarily, squeezing them tight. I remember your touch, like silk over satin bonds, now it feels like worn leather, something of which i am not fond. The coldness seeps in around me, my heart is fully broken, why i walked away from you, is a reason that could never be spoken. My apologies are worthless, My tears are nothing more, than a raindrop in the desert, & the echo of my crumbling core. All is nothing, without the love of my life, Love is unlike anything, Especially this selfish knife, Still caught in this cold-sweat nightmare, Thinking through but i'll never know, i'll Always and forever be wondering, how i ever let you go.
