Burning Desire

Burning Desire

A Poem by hypochondrita
"

"

watch me disappear

my doubts get the best of me

no matter how hard I try

I let the hours change my mind

one minute I do

one minute I don’t

one minute I will

one minute I won’t

that’s the price you pay

for all the choices you cannot make

no due achievement

when confusion is frequent

desires are useless when belief is denied

I wish, I wish, I wish

you lie, you lie, you lie

how can you want what you want

when you do what you do

that’s not the right path

no ideal aftermath

maybe you don’t actually want it

maybe you just want the results

not being the person it entails to construct

all of your deep desires

a commitment away from acquiring

A poem here about wavering. The speaker seems to have "Burning Desires" one moment, but uncertainty not far down the road. The lines "I wish, I wish, I wish/ You lie, you lie, you lie" may be a hint that some of these desires have to do with relationships. Whatever, the speaker comes across as having a certain lack of self confidence, which quickly undercuts what seem to be firm decisions. Maybe some self examination is needed. Self flagellation is not the answer.

Your poem perfectly describes that tumbling back-and-forth mind-boggle that accompanies any decision, not just ones about people, but most especially the ones about people. Those times when you feel an outrage & want to blow this person off, but two minutes later they reach out in a way that makes us realize we misunderstood that last prickly situation . . . but what about all the other prickly situations? It goes on & on as we question our convictions & decisions. Nicely fresh & dynamic writing with spunky attitude that comes across (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

doesn't always just magically happen - is on us to go get it and make it happen. like the old saying, "If wishes were horses then beggars would ride." where there's smoke there's fire so must feed that "burning desire". well done ... :)
