Third Wheel

Third Wheel

A Poem by hypochondrita

I was watching both of you

I could tell what was happening

I could see the look in his eyes whenever you walked by

I could see you biting your lip whenever he moved

I could feel my heart shrinking bit by bit

I get what you see in him

I get what he sees in you

fair amount of chemistry

wish it didn’t cause me such jealousy

you don’t have the courage to admit

‘cause you’re both dating other people

but through my pain I assist

love is about freedom

A little push is all it took

It’s fine, I just can’t look...

I believe the old wise words of John Donne. You don't find love. Love find you. I liked the honest tone leading to the perfect ending. Hello my friend from Michigan and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

The bitterness in this one is almost amusing, but maybe that is what the poet intended. The speaker is trying valiantly to keep a stiff upper lip and see the thing in the best light. It ain't working.
