Battlefield

Battlefield

A Poem by Hyorin

escape into the deep recesses of my mind
where reality is a nebulous blob of intercepting lines and curves
where pen and paper clash with a cacophony of clicking and flipping sounds
where letters and numbers intertwine to form an alien language I can never seem to fathom.

escape into the void of despondency
where scarlet red taints innocuous white
where crimson spill to form a macabre painting
where amorphous beings seem to beckon, "come closer, be consumed by ambition"

they say red is the colour of passion
i say red is the colour of banishment
locked behind inpenetrable walls of pen and paper
fettered by societal expectation
