Just a random use of words

My brain dried out and my luck betrayed
She left and my world got swayed
That mystery is now broken
and with no word spoken
we stayed to witness the affair
this relationship now has rules to adhere,
Rules made to save the past
‘cause something God knows happened
And it didn’t last;
the wounds henceforth benign
and the pleasant sha’nt shine
memories of togetherness to cherish
but one can’t remind
