Owed a Favor

Owed a Favor

A Poem by A.j. Dru
"

Just a poem I'm jotting down in the middle of the night

"

Don't owe you a goddamn dime

Respect is earned

Finding comfort in my skin

Ugly, but it covers my insides.

I've burned bridges

I've covered my tracks

The world has it's demons

And I have mine

If you're looking for the rhyme

This is not the time or place

If found return to me

I love to ramble with the innocent

My confidence unwavering

Your attention span tested

These earbuds shouting

This music gives me all the reason

Are you hanging in there?

Can you still hear me?

Questions from the writer

But not from me, believe it

Conscience is a funny face

Clowning around inside

Convincing you of doubts

Tripping on a thought that made no sense

Are you upset? Do you feel ripped?

What did you expect?

Are we best friends?

Were you owed a favor?
