A Poem by Boyd Johnson

it's strange.

we remember

only certain views.

rarely

can we recall

an entire image.

the view from her bed

is hard to forget.

almost

as ingrained,

as the wall

in front

of your shitter.

Love this for its simplicity and truth.
I like how you broke the piece up into short lines; it creates a steady rhythm and allows the reader to focus on exactly what is being said; it also adds to the atmosphere of the poem, which possibly has overtones of sadness/regret, because the part about "her bed" appears to be a reference to something from the past.
The comma after "ingrained" is bugging me a little, as it feels grammatically unnecessary, but I can't think of any other way to induce the pause that you seem to want there.
Cool colloquialism to exit on.

Thanks for posting this.
Thanks to Emily Burns for sharing it with me.
