another block of black.

another block of black.

A Poem by Boyd Johnson

the peace

of old

suns & seasons

gone

that peace

the pieces gone past

did any of them deliver

what id swore

they promised to?

did she try to take the drink from me?

could it have been so simple a thing?

another block of black

ill never know

shell never tell

was her purported peace

any lesser

or greater

than any other promise

ive made

on someone elses behalf?

suns & seasons

of old

she always was

a wintertime feeling

spring is here

the sun is rising

i cast off that which has befouled my mind

i dont know what I said

but i can guess

Rise & Fall.

an old friend.

a dead season.

youve played your part.

youve played your part.
