Starlight

What is it to
walk together
talk together
but never be
able to
truly know, what
is in
each others
hearts?

to peel away
layers
each day
striving to, make
our actions, match
our words
our words, match
our thoughts
our thoughts, match
our hearts, hoping, that
in this life
at least
one other, will
come
to truly know us, as
we truly are

to say, that
we are fortunate, when
we find this, with
another human being, is
like saying, that
the planets are
fortunate
to find
the sun's embrace, or
like watching
the sunrise, and
hearing birds singing
through
the bars, of
a prison cell

to desire to
be truly one with
another
to crave it, with
our entire beings
is at once, the
illusively beautiful, and
cruel nature, of
this
reality
and also, the
perfection
of our lives, something
worth striving for

because in the end
after the struggles of
a lifetime
we
must
quietly
return
to our true aloneness
like solitary stars
eternally
mysteriously
shining, with
the light of becoming
part of
the greater
whole
